Bechdel Tested: I SHOT ANDY WARHOL

Bechdel Tested is thrilled to announce a new season at a new location… in a new decade! Join us for our 2020 incarnation at The Royal Cinema as we explore the theme of REVENGE, beginning with a screening of Mary Harron’s cult classic, I Shot Andy Warhol.

We’ll be joined by prominent Toronto feminists sharing their best revenge stories before the film, as well as a mini-marketplace of non-man makers selling their wares in the lobby; plus drinks, prizes, and vengeful feminist merriment! Stay tuned for announcements about our storytellers, merchants, and giveaways in the coming weeks, and get your tickets now!

About the film: Valerie Solanas (Lili Taylor) is an aspiring writer who moves to New York City and supports herself as a sex worker. After meeting artist Andy Warhol (Jared Harris) and a host of other eccentrics in the New York art scene, Valerie sets out to convince Warhol to produce her play “Up Your Ass.” Based on a true story, the film follows Valerie’s journey from ambitious author to obsessed, delusional assassin.

Bechdel Tested is produced by Erica Shiner
