Royal Stompbox presents:
ROCK & ROLL NIGHTMARE (1987)
+ RETURN OF THE THUNDERHAWK (2019) Toronto Premiere!
Featuring THOR, The Legendary Rock Warrior – live in person for a Q&A!!!
Wednesday, June 12th – Show begins 8pm
Jon-Mikl Thor is the original bodybuilder-turned-rockstar who’s been shocking the world since the 70s, smashing bricks, trampling evil, and bending steel, all in the service of rock! Thor was the first person to win both the Mr. Canada and Mr. USA bodybuilding championships and his awesome Keep the Dogs Away debut album from 1977 (recorded in Toronto!) kicked off a still-thrilling career of theatrical, heroic cult metal. With a huge discography and countless shows from the late 70s to the present, Thor’s popularity recently shoot through the roof with the excellent rise, fall and redemption story, I Am Thor, released in 2015.
Now the mighty Thor is back on tour, hitting Toronto for a special “Two Days of Thor” event, starting at The Royal Cinema on June 12, and carrying over to The Rockpile the following night, June 13 for a live performance (https://www.ticketweb.ca/event/thor-the-rockpile-west-tickets/9288185)! And he’s bringing a new doc called Return of the Thunderhawk for it’s Toronto premiere, that follows where I Am Thor left off. This coincides with the release of his new album Hammer of Justice!
This premiere will be accompanied by a screening of the absolutely fabulous, totally essentially and staggeringly Ontario horror-rock classic Rock N’ Roll Nightmare (1987) – starring Thor as “Jon Triton” leader of rock band The Tritonz, who are assaulted by demons and the Devil himself while trying to record a new album! What starts as a rockin’ recording retreat turns diabolical when Triton is reborn as the Intercessor, a caped angel who conquer Ol’ Scratch for good! If you’ve never seen Rock N’ Roll Nightmare, honest to God you haven’t lived!
