Julie Kim is coming to the Royal Theatre on March

Julie Kim is coming to the Royal Theatre on March 8th!

Julie Kim is one of Canada’s top stand-up comedians. Julie recently toured across North America doing 40 theatre shows with Ronny Chieng (Crazy Rich Asians, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah). She was a gala performer at the 2022 Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal and headlined four sold-out solo shows at Just for Laughs Toronto in 2023. Over the past decade, Julie has performed at all the major Canadian comedy festivals including Just for Laughs Vancouver, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and Halifax Comedy Festival (with multiple televised performances). She tours internationally and made her debut at the 2023 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Julie has also been regularly featured on CBC’s The Debaters.

In 2023 Julie also debuted at both the Toronto Fringe Festival and Victoria Fringe Festival with her solo storytelling show called No One Special.

Julie's mission is to spread happiness, lighten hearts, and unite through laughter. And no amount of mom-shaming will stop her in this quest.

One night only, the award-winning comedy, Party Pi

One night only, the award-winning comedy, Party Pirate, plays on Wednesday, December 11 at 7 pm, at the Royal Theatre.

Screenwriter/lead actor Luke Lawrence will be joined by co-stars Che Durena & Sima Sepehri and director Ruth Lawrence for a short Q&A after the movie.

Based on a true story. Tommy is a young actor/dishwasher with dyslexia & ADHD who can’t seem to get a break. One day, he lands a well-paying acting gig… as a pirate for a kids’ party bus. A series of misadventures, including a showdown with the pirate he displaced and a joyride on a stolen boat, threaten to turn it all into a spectacular failure, until Tommy learns how to fight his own battles while accepting what makes him unique.

An adult coming-of-age story told through a neurodivergent lens, with self-effacing humour, and some sweet stop motion animations.

Troy Bond is coming to the Royal Theatre on February 8th!

Troy Bond is a comedian and writer based in New York City, known for his sharp crowdwork skills, first-rate joke writing and tongue-in-cheek impressions that helped to build his fast-growing audience of more than 3M across social platforms. His blend of nuanced comedic writing and on-stage charisma landed him on the 2023 Just for Laughs New Faces of Comedy lineup, following the likes of Kevin Hart, Taylor Tomlinson, Kumail Nanjiani and more.

Beginning his impressive rise in stand-up at 17, the now-27-year-old is booked nightly in the city on his days off from selling out headlining shows across the United States. Tackling everything from capitalism and the presidential race to superheroes and the wizarding world, Bond is a versatile comic to watch. In addition to his work on camera and on stage, Troy co-hosts the BONDING podcast with fellow comic Torey Cole.

The Snowed in Comedy Tour is coming back to the Royal Theatre on April 12th 2025!

The Snowed In Comedy Tour has turned into a Canadian success story, celebrating its sixteenth year. It has now grown to become the biggest comedy tour in Canada. Playing in 70 cities this year, coast to coast. In a market still dominated by American acts, with American TV credits, a small Canadian comedy tour has managed to succeed. Like the Tragically Hip they have done it by touring and making more and more people laugh, year after year. The tour has now performed in Australia, The US, France, and Switzerland. The tour has received numerous standing ovations.

Four international comedians come together to create one amazing show with each bringing a unique and hilarious take providing something for everyone. Just for Laughs winner Dan Quinn is joined by the Great Canadian Laugh Off winner, Paul Myrehaug and 6 time Canadian Comedian of the year nominee, Pete Zedlacher. Preacher Lawson is coming to the Royal Theatre wit

Preacher Lawson is coming to the Royal Theatre with some special guests on November 29th!

Preacher Lawson was born in Portland, OR, but spent most of his adolescence in Memphis, TN. He moved 20 times before the age of 10, but if you asked him what city he's from he'd say Orlando, FL, because that's where he grew as a comedian.

Lawson is best known for his appearance on season 12 of NBC’s hit series, AMERICA’S GOT TALENT (2017) where he made it to the final round. Based off his stellar performance in season 12, Lawson was invited to compete on AMERICA'S GOT TALENT: THE CHAMPIONS (2019) and BRITAN’S GOT TALENT: THE CHAMPIONS (2019) where he advanced to the finale after receiving the most fan votes. Most recently he was handpicked by Howie Mandell to participate in AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: FANTASY LEAGUE (2024). Lawson shot his first stand-up special, GET TO KNOW ME, which premiered on BET+ in 2019, then Amazon.

An exciting theatrical production is coming to the Royal Theatre on December 10th! OFF BOOK: The Improvised Musical.

Jessica McKenna and Zach Reino create a completely improvised musical in an attempt to combat the notion that musicals should be “carefully crafted” or “thought out at all.”

Zach Reino and Jessica McKenna are a versatile musical comedy duo. They wrote and composed music for the WGA award-winning Peacock Series Baking It starring Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler and Andy Samberg. The duo has also written songs and musical sketches for the hit animation show Rick and Morty, Party Over Here (a Fox sketch show produced by The Lonely Island), the Peacock series Pitch Perfect: Bumper In Berlin, Buzzfeed, FunnyOrDie and Nickelodeon. Zach and Jess are currently developing TV and Film projects with Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions, David Wain (The State, Role Models, Wanderlust) and Elizabeth Banks’ Brownstone Productions. They also created and starred in Serious Music, a digital series for ABC.

After a stalking incident forced Anna into retirement for 6 years, she’s back – and armed with a restraining order and a plethora of new stories to tell. Anna Akana is a comedian, actress and writer. As an actress, she can be seen in Marvel’s Ant-Man, Comedy Central’s Corporate, Netflix’s Jupiter’s Legacy and the Emmy-nominated Youtube RED series she executive produced and starred in, Youth & Consequences. Her Youtube channel has a following of over 2.8 million subscribers, where she tackles a variety of mental health focused comedy content. As a writer, hopefully she’ll someday emerge from development hell (with networks FX, Netflix, and HBOMax) for you to witness her work. Diablo Cody once said, “Anna’s a brilliant and poignant writer,” so either way, she can now die at peace.

An exciting cultural event is coming to the Royal

An exciting cultural event is coming to the Royal Theatre on August 6th! Panazz: The Story gives an intimate look at the Trinidadian jazz steelpan ensemble primarily from the perspectives of four of its key players, Barry Bartholomew (leader), Dane Gulston, Natasha Joseph, and Donell Thomas.

The musical phenomenon began in the early 1990s when Barry Bartholomew and Yohan Popwell formed the ensemble initially to compete in Pan Ramajay, a competition that sought to highlight the improvisational skills of individual pannists in small ensembles.

After winning four consecutive years, Panazz pulled out of the competitive arena to embark on their professional journey which saw them captivate international audiences with their electrifying performances in renowned venues spanning from Boston Symphony Hall to some of the finest concert halls in Japan.

At the core of the film lies the groundbreaking music produced by Panazz for its five CDs. At the heart of Panazz itself was an immense love that bound the players as a collective unit. Together, they contributed to the elevation of Trinidad and Tobago’s national instrument.
